Los Angeles Galaxy uses StratTix ticket analysis software to increase home game ticket revenues
Galaxy is first Major League Soccer team to adopt StratTix to see up-to-the-minute sales info
BOSTON, July 10, 2007 — The Los Angeles Galaxy, two-time winners of the Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup, is the first team in the league to use StratBridge’s StratTix ticket analysis software to maximize ticket sales throughout the season.
Team President and General Manager Alexi Lalas, a former star on the U.S. national team and in MLS, uses StratTix to see up-to-the-minute information about sold and available seating. The software allows Lalas and his sales staff to cull ticket information from a variety of sources to gain a real-time view of ticket inventories via a graphical representation of the Home Depot Center. With just a couple of mouseclicks, the team can identify previously hidden ticket purchase patterns and trends within a single game or the entire season; track the impact marketing campaigns such as advertising, promotions and direct mail have on sales; and monitor the effects of price changes on sales both visually and quantitatively.
“We have a passion for the game of soccer, but there is a science to selling tickets,” said Lalas. “The visual ability of StratTix is wonderful. StratTix gives us better understanding of where we are and where we’re going, which is important, especially this season with international star David Beckham joining our team. StratTix tells me everything I need to know about our fans – who they are, where they’re sitting, and their buying patterns at the game. This helps us develop more creative promotions to ensure increased ticket sales.”
StratTix is already widely used in the National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Arena Football League (AFL).
“Though its popularity has grown steadily since its first season 12 years ago, Major League Soccer is still in its infancy as an efficient business operation,” said StratBridge Founder and CEO Matthew Marolda. “Alexi Lalas is an icon in U.S. soccer, but he also has the business savvy to take advantage of the opportunity before him to maximize ticket sales and increase the team’s bottom line.”
